Abstract:
The maritime industry in Denmark is facing major competitive challenges on the global market, a market which is particularly dominated by the East Asian countries, which are strong in competitive areas such as price and time.
In order to strengthen the Danish maritime industry's position in the shipbuilding market, it is necessary to turn the competition towards areas such as knowledge and quality, where the Danish companies are strongest. Competition can be displaced by increasing business focus on service and by shifting production from physical products to service products. The project aims to develop a tool that can help the Danish companies to develop service and record the options that exist in order to establish a service partnership. The project is conducted in cooperation with the trade association Danish Maritime and a variety of companies in the industry - five component manufacturers and one shipyard. In addition, contact has been made with two shipping companies associated with current shipbuilding projects in the shipyard.
